Countercurrent Closed Cooling Tower How To Freeze Frost In Winter?

The heat dissipation capacity of the closed cooling tower is designed according to the hottest weather in summer, and in other seasons, especially in winter, the heat dissipation capacity is obviously too large. The water temperature of closed cooling tower is not related to the ambient temperature, which is mainly affected by wet bulb temperature, and the wet bulb temperature is much lower than the ambient temperature. While the closed cooling tower is operating at ambient temperatures above 0 ℃, the closed cooling tower can also reduce the water in the tube to zero or even freeze. In order to prevent the occurrence of this kind of accident, it is particularly important to freeze the circulating and outer circulating water in the closed cooling tower, which may cause the rupture of piping, radiating copper tubes and other components in the tower.Here are a few options for winter freeze prevention for your reference:

First, outer circulation antifreeze (outside the copper tube) 

a) Install an electric heater in the water to prevent freezing of the lower sink.

When installing electric heaters, it is recommended to install auxiliary equipment such as water level switch and temperature controller, and to set up automatic control to prevent the electric heater from dry burning or over heating.

b) Add insulation material to the circulating pipe (connecting the sprinkler pump) exposed to the lower sink.

c) long-term shutdown, should immediately empty all external circulating water, and keep the lower sink drain valve, apron water pump drain valve open placed.

Second, inner circulation antifreeze (copper tube) A) adding antifreeze, recommended the use of industrial ethylene glycol, containing 40% (volume) glycol aqueous solution, freezing point for -25℃,60% aqueous solution of the freezing point of 49 ℃, because glycol aqueous solution of low freezing point, in the water solubility is large, therefore, ethylene glycol is a good antifreeze.

However, with the increase in the concentration of ethylene glycol solution, the performance of the closed cooling tower may be slightly reduced, so high temperature weather in summer, it is important to drain ethylene glycol, using clean water. b) in-pipe anti-freezing device, for the day open night stop, such as regular stop, can be installed in the tube next to the power heater, in the shutdown, the next power heating to the closed cooling tower heat pipe to provide heat, to ensure that it does not freeze.

For long-term stop operation of the unit, if not using antifreeze, be sure to empty the heat pipe circulating water. If the user does not set the water outlet, closed cooling tower inlet and outlet of the bottom of a spare water outlet. When discharging, open the exhaust valve of the closed counter-flow cooling tower at the same time.

If available, use high-pressure air to force out the circulating water in the tube, and keep the exhaust valve and drain valve open and placed. D) for units with an ambient temperature of more than 0 ℃, an automatic control system can be used to freeze frost. Detect the outlet temperature of the closed cooling tower, when it is below a certain temperature, stop running the sprinkler pump, and stop running the fan when it is below a certain lower temperature.

In this way the water in the tube can only be lowered to the ambient temperature and will not freeze.

Three, the above anti-freeze measures, can be used alone, can also be used in the system design of a number of items, in particular, according to the actual operating conditions to choose the scheme.
